The Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department was organized in the
late summer of 1953 after a fire destroyed a chicken house owned
by Charles Meminger.
The first engine was purchased in November 1953 from the
Brentwood Volunteer Fire Department in Prince Georges County,
Maryland.
There were many mile stones during the history of the department
and some of the more instrumental ones are listed as follows;

January 1954, Ladies Auxiliary was formed.

March 1954, the Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department was
incorporated.

July 1954, the first festival was held.
~
April 1960, purchased the present fire hall.
~
July 1961, purchased a 1962 GMC-Barton American Pumper-Tanker
~
October 1964, purchased a 1965 GMC-Barton American Pumper-Tanker
~
April 1968, purchased a 1968 GMC Tanker
~
Approved the construction of the carnival grounds and building to
the rear of the station.
~
January 1972, formed the first Junior Membership program in the
Commonwealth of Pa.
~
March 1972, purchased a used Rescue Squad.
~
June 1972, First Fire Company in Franklin County to purchase
3" supply hose.
~
October 1973, purchased the 1975 Hahn pumper and won the Perry
Mann Trophy.
~
November 1973, Celebrated the 25th Anniversary.
~
June 1975, established the ambulance service in Fayetteville.
~
First Fire Company in Franklin County to accept female members.
~
October 1975, dedicated new fire station, two new ambulances, 1975
Hahn pumper and a 1975 Dodge brush truck.

August 1976, placed the Hurst "Jaws of Life" into
service after being donated to the Department by the 81-30 CB
Club.
~
May 1977, the very FIRST ambulance service in the Commonwealth of
PA to be certified by the PA Department of Health.
~
Purchased a 1975 Mack CF600 pumper from Mt. Airy , Maryland.
~
July 1977, Chief James Cutchall and Wilber Brookens are shot and
killed by Gary Lee Rock while responding to the house he set fire
to.
~
January 1978, All 1.5" hose is replaced with 2" hose.
~
January 1980, purchased and placed the third ambulance into
service.
~
June 1984, Celebrated the 30th
Anniversary.
~
July 1990,, the present Rescue Squad, 1990 Mack CH cab and 22'
E-One body placed into service.
~
April 1995, new Social Building completed.
~
April 1995,, 1976 Mack CF, Engine 7-2 replaced with a 1995 Pierce
Dash.
~
April 4th, 1995, first full time career staff hired, Curtis Bryan
and Ted Snively
~
March 19th, 2000, Advanced Life Support service was placed into
operation.
2002,
replaced Engine 7-1 with a 2002 Pierce Dash pumper.
~
August 2003, celebrated our 50th Anniversary with a parade and
festivities at the Community Carnival.
