HOMEOWNERS GOT LUCKY
January 26th - This isn't something you would see every day. Heck, this isn't something you would see but maybe a few times in your career as a firefighter. Fire dept personnel was contacted by telephone to go to a residence in our first due to see what transpired over night this past Thursday. When we arrived, the homeowner showed us the inside of his new Chevrolet Suburban that was setting in his garage. The inside of it had caught on fire and burned so badly that it destroyed the inside of the vehicle, melted the front window and snuffed it's self out without catching the home on fire. The home owner and his family were very lucky in this case. This happened over night while everyone was asleep. It could have been a lot worse. The PSP fire marshal investigated and found that an IPOD left plugged into the cigarette lighter was to blame. He advised us to spread the word. Do not leave anything plugged into the cigarette lighter in your vehicle for a period of time for any reason. This could happen to you.
