VEHICLE FIRE

 

December 30th - While Station 4 was on the house fire in Co 9's area for most of the day, Engine 7-1 with a crew of  four was covering the HOGS area. Meanwhile back at

 " The Ville", Engine 7-2,  Squad 7 and Ambulance 7-8 responded to 3747 White Church Road for the Garbage truck on fire. Engine tanker 14 was requested to the scene initially and was later placed in service.

 \

AUTO ACCIDENT

 

December 28th - On December 26th Squad 7, Engine 7-1 and an Ambulance from CC73 responded to the 4200 Blk of Old Scotland Road for an auto accident.

SANTA VISITED THE VILLE

 

Santa Claus visited the Firehouse Tuesday evening. Many local children came to set on his lap. All received a candy cane and an orange. Thank you to everyone who helped out with the event. December 15th - On Sunday December 13th firefighters in 'The Ville " kept very busy. As the day went along, things just kept getting worse. Most of the personnel were busy serving dinner to the public at our social hall. Co7 ran seven calls for the day on Sunday.

 

The Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department would like to thank everyone who came out to support the fire department on Sunday December 13th at the public dinner. We would also like to say thank you to everyone who helped throughout the day and to those who answered the emergency calls.

 

BASEMENT FIRE

 

December 15th - On Saturday December 12th communications alerted the 7-5 box for the house fire at 6343 Dell Circle in Fayetteville. Chief 7 arrived to find a basement well off. The occupants had gotten out of the house just prior to the arrival of the FD. Engine 7-2 was first in. Personnel stretched an attack line to the basement to quickly get a knock on the fire. Engine 43's crew stretched a backup line to the basement to assist the attack crew. Other crews performed horizontal and vertical ventilation and checked for extension on the 1st division. Engine 7-1 established a draft site at one of the ponds on the golf course. Units were placed available throughout the duration of the incident. 1ST DUE HOUSE FIRE

 

December 1st - Communications alerted the 7-1 box for the house fire at 357 West Main Street, Fayetteville. Engine 7-2 arrived on scene with a working fire on side C. The fire started in a clothes dryer on a rear porch. The fire was contained to the rear porch area and was quickly knocked down after our arrival. DECORATING FOR THE HOLIDAYS

 

December 1st - Volunteers and paid staff decorated the firehouse for the holidays today. Christmas lights and many other decorations were put up today inside and out.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

SIX RUNS FOR THE DAY

 

November 19th - Co7 personnel responded to six runs for the day. An AFA in Co5's area, a  house lockout in our area, attic fire in Co16's area, auto accident in Co27's area, carbon monoxide call with patients in Co5's area, and another auto accident in our area

.

ATTIC FIRE

 

November 19th - Just after 1300 hrs today Chief 16 came on the air reporting a possible dwelling at 3338 Day Hollow Road in South Mtn. Engine 16-1 arrived on scene with smoke showing. Chief 16 reported an attic fire. Engine 7-2 and Squad 7 responded. Personnel worked on extinguishment, overhaul and opening up the roof.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

BARN WELL OFF

 

November 17th - On November 15th just after 2300 hrs, Engine 7-2 responded to the barn fire in Co5's area. Box 5-02. Co5 arrived on scene with a barn well involved. HOUSE FIRE & AUTO ACCIDENT

 

November 14th - On November 14th, Squad 7 responded to a working dwelling fire in the 44-09 box area of Hamilton Twp. Station 4 arrived on scene with a house well off on Sollenberger Road. Personnel assisted with searching the residence and overhaul work. Squad 7 after being released from the fire scene responded back to "The Ville" for an auto accident with possible entrapment on LWE in the area of Mount Union Road. Engine 7-, the Micu and Engine 11-2 assisted on the auto accident. Stat 12 flew one patient from the accident.

HOUSE FIRE

 

November 14th - On November 12th, Engine 7-1 assisted on the working house fire in Quincy Twp. Box 5-02. Personnel worked on scene for a few hours before being released.

ANOTHER ONE ON HILLENDALE ROAD

 

October 26th - At 1117 hrs communications alerted the 7-4 box for the kitchen fire at 1289 Hillendale Road. Engine 7-1 and Chief 7 arrived on scene with light smoke from side "D" . Personnel stretched a hand line into the basement area and found a stove fire already out with just a smoke condition inside. Command held company 7 , 17 and  truck 42.

 

 

HOUSE WELL OFF

 

October 20th - On Saturday October 17th communications alerted units to a dwelling fire in  Guilford Twp, the 7-4 box on Hillendale Road. A/C 7 arrived on scene with a working fire and was advised of possible entrapment. Initially crews performed a search then went to work fighting fire. Everyone escaped the fire and was safe on the outside. Crews worked for hours to bring the fire under control and doing extensive overhaul work. Thanks to all of the companies involved. TWO NEW HEART MONITORS

 

NOW IN SERVICE

 

The FVFD EMS is proud to announce the delivery of two new Life Pak 15 Cardiac Monitors. The monitors were purchased with assistance from an EMSOF grant through the EHSF. The life pak 15 is the state of the art cardiac monitor capable of many life saving features. These are the first new heart monitors that the FVFD have purchased and we are very proud to add these to our arsenal of life saving equipment. Currently the FVFD is the only Advanced Life Support service in the area to boast these devices and we couldn't be happier to provide this service to our residents The FVFD EMS continues to remain on the cutting edge of the emergency medical services because that's what our residents deserve.

WORKING DWELLING FIRE

 

October 9th - On October 7th around 05:45 hrs,  Engine 7-1 and Squad 7 responded to 4791 Yohe Road in Co 5 area, box 5-01 for the dwelling fire. Engine 5-1 arrived on scene with a garage well off and extension into a house. Engine 7-1 arrived on scene  and supplied Engine 5-1. Crews went work putting a stop on the fire on all levels of the home. Crews also spent several hours on overhaul operations before returning to service.

JUST LENDING A HAND

 

September 5th - As the air cylinders get hydro tested, they need filled when finished. Two of Fayetteville's Good Ole Boys were caught filling air bottles at company 13. Some of the cylinders are also being taken to company 27 to be filled as well. Thanks guys !

September 5th - Medic 7 receives a make over from EVS.

 

 

 

POSSIBLE AUTO FIRE

 

August 29th - On Friday August 28th Co7 personnel responded to a reported auto fire at 2268 Eby Road in Guilford Twp. Engine 7-1 arrived on scene and found one auto off the roadway with no fire visible. Firefighters stretched an attack line to the auto and found the auto had a yellowish smoke on the interior. With the auto locked, a window was removed to make entry, this is when a body was discovered in the auto. Firefighters also discovered something very unusual in the auto and retreated. Command 7 requested additional units to the scene which brought  PSP, a six unit and hazmat personnel to the scene. 

 

ONE AUTO OVERTURNED

 

August 29th - On August 23rd just before 0900 hrs Co7 responded to an auto accident with one overturned in the 2200 Blk of the Black Gap Road, Greene Twp.

FVFD hosts a NYC bus Trip

On Saturday August 22nd, members from Co7, Co17 and Station 4 took a bus trip to New York City. The crew visited the NYC Fire Museum, several fire houses, Ground Zero, Rockefeller Center, and many other sites throughout the city.

SUPER CASH BASH 2009

 

Saturday August 15th, the FVFD, Fayetteville Athletics and Fayetteville Browns

held the 2nd Annual Super Cash Bash. As the crowds grew larger, the temperature got hotter. Temperatures reached the low 90's on Saturday but it didn't stop the people from coming to 'The Ville" for a great time, cold refreshments and good food. Thanks to everyone who came out to support all three organizations and thanks to everyone who spent a very hot day in the heat and helped with the event this year. ONE FLOWN OUT FROM THE PARK

 

August 17th - On Saturday August 15th, Engine 7-2 responded to assist the Micu at the Caledonia State Park. The engine crew set up a landing site for Stat 12 in the grass field in the area of the swimming pool. A child fell about 10 feet from a bridge and received a serious injury as result of the fall.

ONE RESCUED

 OFF THE ROOF OF A CHURCH

 

August 5th - Engine 7-1, Ambulance 7-8, Truck 17 and Chief 7 responded into Greene Twp to the Mount Union Church on Lincoln Way East for a person down on a roof. Chief 7 arrived on scene confirming dispatch. A person working on the roof  of the church became ill and needed rescued. With the assistance of Truck 17's personnel, we were able to safely remove the patient from the roof. Medic 7 was requested for possible dehydration, Micu 7-9 arrived and transported the patient to the hospital.

 

 

AUTO ACCIDENT WITH A FLY OUT

 

August 5th - Squad 7, Engine, 7-1 and Micu 7-9 responded into Greene twp on the Mt Pleasant Road at Hafer Road for an auto accident. Captain 7 on scene with three patients requested an additional  ambulance which brought Ambulance 1-8 to the scene. Stat 12 was requested to fly one patient to York with possible chest trauma.

 

A MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT

AND A COMEDY SHOW

 

August 5th - On August 3rd, Squad 7, Engine 7-2 and Micu 7-9 responded into Guilford Twp on Garman Drive for a motorcycle accident. Co7 units arrived on scene to find one patient and a scooter on the ground. The patient advised that a deer had run across the road and caused him to loose control. D/C 7 arrived on scene just ahead of the apparatus and when he got out of his vehicle the doors locked behind him.

2009 JUNIOR MEMBER CADETS

 

August 1st - Congratulations to all of the Junior Members who completed the training at the 2009 Junior Member Training Academy this past week. Marshal Shaffer and Johnnie Smith from Fayetteville was among the group of boys and girls that graduated on Saturday morning 8/1/09. All of the Junior Members who participated received an award for completion of the academy. BARN WELL INVOLVED

ON ARRIVAL

 

July 30th - Shortly after 4:00am this morning communications alerted the 7-1 box for a working barn fire in Greene Twp at 1352 Woodstock Road. A/C 7 arrived on scene within minutes of the dispatch with a barn well involved. Personnel operated on scene for just a short time till command 7 got the word from the owner to let it burn. AUTO ACCIDENT BY THE PARK

 

July 30th - On July 27th at 2056 hrs, Squad 7, D/C 7 and Ambulance 7-8 responded to an auto accident in Greene Twp on the Pine Grove Road just off Rt 30. Co 7 units arrived on scene and found one vehicle involved. EMS obtained patient refusals, PSP was notified and units went available at 2139 hrs.

 

4TH OF JULY PARADE

 

   Co7 personnel with Engine 7-1-, 7-2 and Brush 7 along with a group of girl scouts from

          "The Ville" participated in the 4th of July parade in the Boro of Waynesboro.

                   The girl scouts handed out candy as we traveled the parade route.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

CONGRATULATIONS

 

Congratulations to staff members Ryan Bolton, Kyarah Kuykendall, and Jesse Weller on their graduation from the 2008-2009 PIAHS Paramedic Class.  Special honors to Jesse for his being named the valedictorian and receiving the clinical excellence award.  They are pictured with EMS Chief and Assistant Professor of Paramedic Sciences Ryan Elborne.  We wish them the best of luck on their upcoming National Registry Examinations.

 

 

ONE OVERTURNED

 

May 25th - Squad 7, Engine 7-1 and the Micu responded to an auto accident reported as vehicle overturned with possible entrapment near the intersection of LWE and Pine Grove Road by the Caledonia State Park. Personnel found one vehicle overturned in the stream with negative entrapment.

 

 

NEW EMT'S

 

May 19th - Congratulations  to Rob Wells, Chuck Miller and Donald McAtee for successfully completing EMT class.

 

DWELLING FIRE

 

May 19th -  On May 17th Engine 7-1, Squad 7 and Ambulance 7-7 responded into Greene Twp to 8178 LWE  for the dwelling fire. Firefighters found a BBQ grill and the exterior wall on side "C" on fire with fire extending into the attic area. MOTHER'S DAY DINNER

 

May 11th -  The Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department would like to thank everyone  who came out to support the fire department at the Mother's Day Dinner on May 10th. SCOTLAND MEMORIAL PARADE

 

May 11th -  On Saturday May 9th Co7 participated in the Scotland Memorial Parade. Co7 dumped the house. All fire apparatus, all EMS units and non- emergency transport vans were in the parade. Co7 brought home 1st place Squad, 2nd place Engine, 1st place Brush, and 1st place Ambulance. Thanks to Adams County Engine Co27 for covering our station. MODULE "D" CLASS

 

May 11th -  On May 2nd and 3rd, Assistant Fire Chief Ulrich took Engine 7-2 to the training center to assist with the Module D Class. Students simulated smoke evolutions in the burn building. dumpster fire and vehicle fires. Two firefighters from Co7 was among several that completed the class.

 

 

WORKING DWELLING FIRE

 

May 3rd -  Just after 4:00am this morning Squad 7 with five personnel responded into the Boro of Chambersburg to assist on the dwelling fire at 70 North Fourth Street. Co 1 units arrived on scene with an apartment building and fire showing from the second floor windows. Personnel assisted with extinguishment and overhaul operations before being released around 0730hrs.

April 29th -  The FVFD would like to Thank LOWE'S for donating $100.00 in plywood for the Module D class. The plywood was picked up and delivered to the Training Center for the class.

 

2008 AWARDS BANQUET

 

April 21st -  On Saturday April 11th, the Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department held it's annual awards banquet. The photo on the left displays two paid EMT's, Jim Birgfield and Zack Cline and volunteer Captain Collin Anderson that used an AED unit to save the life of Leslie Woodard. The photo on the right displays Bev Balsley receiving the Presidents award. Also receiving awards that evening was Collin Anderson who received the Fire Chief's award, Dan Farner who received the Firefighter of the year award, Johnathan Smith who received junior member of the year award and many others who received appreciation awards.

April 21st - On April 2nd, 2009 - While working at the DCFD, EMS Chief Ryan Elborne had the opportunity to meet and spend a few minutes with Randolph Mantooth, best known for his portrayal of Fireman/Paramedic Johnny Gage from T.V.'s EMERGENCY!.  Needless to say, I was more than happy to have the opportunity to meet someone who unknowingly inspired so many to join this great profession.

AUTO ACCIDENT WITH ONE

TRACTOR TRAILER OVERTURNED

 

April 15th -  At 1122 hrs, Squad 7 and Micu 7-9 responded to an auto accident reported with a tractor trailer over turned. The accident accrued in the 44-81-7 box on Interstate 81 North bound at MM 18 in Greene Twp. One tractor trailer crossed the median headed South went through the concrete barriers in the North bound lanes and rolled over. Two people were ejected from the tractor and taken to area hospitals. BACK FOR THE REKINDLE

 

April 1st -  At 0117 hrs communications alerted the 7-6 box for a possible dwelling fire to the rear of Taoramino's Pizza on LWE. Communications quickly corrected the location and sent units to 194 Mt Union Road for the dwelling fire again. D/C 7 arrived on scene with a working fire, assumed command and quickly advised all personnel to make it a defensive attack only. Again personnel worked for several hours on extinguishment and extensive overhaul work. Personnel from Co7, 5, 17, Sta 4, 14, 15, 16, Adams 27 and Air 10 assisted on the fire scene.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

DWELLING FIRE

 

April 1st -  On March 31st at 1617 hrs communications alerted the 7-5 box to 194 Mt Union Road for smoke coming from the roof of a house. Personnel arrived on scene to find fire on the ground level of the home and extension to the 1st floor and attack area. Crews worked to control and extinguish the fire which also lead to several hours of overhaul work. Crews had extensive overhaul work dealing with blown insulation in the walls and ceilings of the home.  As fire personnel left the incident scene friends and family boarded up doors and windows to secure the home.  The Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshall's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.

 

BUILDING FIRE

 

March 11th -  At 0836 hrs Engine 7-2 responded to 1011 Rocky Mt Road at Vision Quest for a building fire box 16-1. Chief 6 and Engine 5-1 arrived on scene with a working fire. There was fire in the ceiling and walls of the building on side B. All units were held for extinguishment and overhaul operations. Co7 cleared the scene at 0934.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

WORKING DWELLING FIRE

 

March 10th -  Just before lunch today units from Franklin County were dispatched into Adams County in the 300 blk of Church Road for a dwelling fire. Engine 7-2 responded w/5 personnel. Adams County Co 27 arrived on scene with a home 75% involved. No one was home at the time of the fire. The family lost everything including a family pet. Engine 7-2 laid a 5" supply line into the scene and the crew assisted with extinguishment and overhaul.

BRUSH / SHED FIRE

 

March 10th -  On  March 7th at 1434 hrs communications alerted the 7-4 box for a brush fire next to a building in Guilford Twp on Valley Drive. Engine 7-2 arrived on scene with a small brush fire and a shed on fire. D/C 7 arrived on scene and assumed command 7. Command 7 held Co7 and returned the rest. D/C 7 investigated and determined the cause of the fire was a child playing with matches. Co 7 cleared the scene at 1520.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

AUTO FIRE ON I-81

UTILITY 7A3 NOW IN SERVICE

 

February 28th -  On Thursday February 27th, Co 7 took delivery of the third new transport van. The van will be known as Utility 7A3 and it's capable of handling bariatric wheelchair patients.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

AUTO ACCIDENT INVOLVING A SCHOOL BUS

 

February 28th -  On Wednesday morning February 26th Co5 was alerted for the auto accident on Mont Alto Road involving a school bus and a utility truck. After Chief 5 arrived on scene he found a utility truck into the rear of a school bus with one trapped. AUTO ACCIDENT

 

February 24th -  On February 22nd at 1546 hrs Squad 7, Engine 7-1, Ambulance 7-7 and Ambulance 1-9 responded to an an auto accident at 4994Cumberland Hwy in Greene Twp. Units cleared the scene at 1618.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

AUTO ACCIDENT

 

February 24th -  On February 21st at 2016 hrs Squad 7, Engine 7-1 and a Micu responded to an auto accident at 1010 Coldspring Road in Greene Twp. Units cleared the scene at 2105.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

TRUCK FAMILIARIZATION

 

Personnel from companies 7 &17 participated in training Tuesday evening at Co7.

Personnel got to climb the big stick and become familiar with the equipment on the truck.

 Truck 17 over to " The Ville "

 

KITCHEN FIRE

 

February 18th - On February 13th at 1823 hrs communications alerted the 7-1 box for a kitchen fire at the INN on Ragged Edge Road in Greene Twp. Engine 7-1, and Engine 7-2 responded. A/C 7 arrived on scene reporting smoke showing. Engine 7-1 with D/C 7 arrived on scene laying a supply line into the scene. D/C 7 assumed command. Engine 7-2 picked up the supply line while the remainder staged. The fire was contained with no extension. Command held Co7 and Truck 17. The rest was placed available.

 

SIGN ON FIRE @ LOWE'S

 

February 18th - On February 11th, Engine 7-1 and Engine 7-2 responded to 1600 LWE at Lowe's for reported sign on fire on the front of the building. Sta 4 arrived on scene with the Letter "O" on fire. Engine 7-1 laid a supply line in from the hydrant to Engine 45. Personnel checked for extension and found none.Command held Sta 4 and Co7 and returned the rest. The fire was quickly extinguished and units went available.

DWELLING FIRE WITH ENTRAPMENT

 

January 27nd - Today just after 0800 hrs Engine 7-2 responded on the working dwelling fire in Peters Twp on Main Street Fort Loudon, Co9 first due. Our personnel assisted on the scene for several hours helping to extinguish the fire and due overhaul work. DISASTER DRILL @ THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

 

January 27nd - On January 26th Firefighters from Franklin and Adams Counties participated in a drill at the Fayetteville Elementary School. Teachers, School Administrators Fire and EMS personnel worked together for a few hours simulating an explosion and  building collapse with multiple patients.

AUTO ACCIDENT

 

January 22nd - On January 21st at 1547 hrs Co7 was alerted to an auto accident in the 500 Blk of Mont Alto Road. Squad 7 arrived on scene and found to vehicles involved. One of the vehicles involved in the accident was one of our members , the other vehicle involved had been towing a trailer loaded with sand that rolled over spilling its load. No serious injuries were reported. Guilford Twp was requested to assist on the scene with a front end loader to remove the sand from the highway. Co7 was available 1604.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

WHAT A MESS

 

January 22nd - On January 19th at 2323 hrs  Co 7, Station 4 and Truck 53 was alerted to 1470 Duron Drive in Greene Twp for an automatic fire alarm with water flow at the Sleep Inn Hotel. Shortly after dispatch Chief 11 arrived on scene and advised that he had a substantial amount of water flowing out of the building between the floors on side A. Upon further investigation, personnel found a three inch water pipe in the 2nd floor ceiling broken that was flooding both floors of the entire hotel. Truck 53 crew shut down the sprinkler system while the rest of the personnel assisted in evacuating residents from the hotel. The electricity was also shut off to the hotel.  Residents were asked to reside at another hotel on Wayne Road. DWELLING FIRE

 

January 19th - On January 17th just after 2200 hrs communications alerted units to the 1200 blk of LWE in Guilford Twp for a dwelling fire. D/C 47 arrived on the scene just minutes after dispatch and advised that he had a working fire at 105 Franklin Farm Lane. Engine 7-2 and 7-1 responded on the box. Engine 7-2 laid 5" from engine 43 to the nursing home for the water supply. Personnel assisted on scene with overhaul operations and picked up the supply line. Co 7 units were available at 2330 hrs.

AUTO ACCIDENT IN NEWBURG

 

January 15th - On January 13th, Medic 7 responded to the auto accident in Newburg at Newburg Road and Shippensburg Road. Medic 7 with EMS Chief Elborne was the third medic provider on the accident.

EMT STUDENTS PRACTICE THEIR SKILLS

 

EMT students invaded the fire house one evening and practiced moving patients down the stairs and in and out of the ambulances with some of the new equipment

HEAVY TRUCK RESCUE CLASS

 

January 15th - On Sunday January 11th, personnel attended a Heavy Truck Rescue class at Dave's Truck Repair. Taking a break here, they pose for the camera.

 

 

AUTO ACCIDENT

 

January 5th - At 1529 hrs Squad 7 and Ambulance 7-8 responded into Guilford Twp to 1915 LWE for an auto accident. Personnel found three vehicles involved with heavy damage and some minor fluid spills. No injuries were reported at the time of the incident.

January 1st - The FVFD had a pork & sauerkraut dinner open to the public today. We would like to thank all of the people who attended and supported the Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department and a special thanks to all of the department members who helped. Thank You all !

 

ANOTHER DWELLING WELL OFF

 

January 1st - On December 30th at approximately 2200 hrs, Engine 7-2, Engine 7-1 and Squad 7 responded to 12009 Loop Road in South Mountain for the dwelling fire. Engine 1602 arrived on scene to find a single family dwelling well off. Engine 7-2 and the Squad went to the scene while Engine 7-1 established a water supply at the restoration center for the tankers. Units went available at 0030 hrs.
